People need to change their travelling habits if the UK Government is to reach its targets and reduce carbon emissions.
The UK aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% by 2050, in accordance with the Climate Change Act.
In this light, the UK's Department for Transport has launched a white paper to outline the way in which people can help them reach this goal.
A combination of measures, including vehicle technologies, lower carbon fuels, traffic management and market mechanisms, will help the UK's attempt to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.
The UK aims to deliver more energy from renewable sources across the EU by 2020 and intends to secure an international agreement to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from aviation and shipping sectors.
