Turkey Plans to Construct Rail Line Linking Azerbaijan

10 May 2010

Turkey plans to lay a rail line linking the city of Kars with Nakhchivan in Azerbaijan.

Efforts to identify the route for the 7km rail line have begun, according to messenger.com.ge.

An Azerbaijan transport ministry representative said the tender for the rail project has been floated to perform the geological operations for the rail line.

The rail link will establish a link between Azerbaijan and its territory of Nakhchivan, an autonomous republic of Azerbaijan separated by Armenia.

The project was signed on 8 February 2007.
