UAE to Invest in Public Rail Transport Projects

30 April 2010

The UAE is planning to invest $68bn in public transport projects in Abu Dhabi in the next five years.

The plan involves the construction of more than 40 metro stations to carry 40,000 to 70,000 passengers per day.

A 131km-long underground metro monorail track project costing $7bn is included in the project, according to tradearabia.com.

The move is intended to reduce congestion and encourage a public transit network, which includes high-speed rail and rapid transit options.
