UAE Begins Mega Rail Project

Work has begun on the first phase of a AED40bn ($11bn) national railway project in the United Arab Emirates.

The 1,500km Union Railway is scheduled for completion in seven to eight years, according to gulfnews.com.

The project will include passenger trains capable of operating at speeds of up to 200kp/h, around 30 bridges and camel and wadi crossings.
