Spain has approved Bombardier’s European Train Control System (ETCS) technology on its high-speed AVE S-130 trains.
The technology is expected to enable Spain’s national rail operator to raise the commercial speed from 200km/h to 250km/h.
The approval of the EBI Cab 2000 automatic train protection system is expected to help operations in ETCS and STM mode.
It will enable the trains, interfacing with integrated STMs, to make dynamic transitions, according to railwayage.com.
Spain has ordered 45 AVE S-130 trains from a Talgo-Bombardier consortium for its entire railway network.
