04 January 2010

Spain's national rail operator RENFE has awarded a joint maintenance contract to Bombardier and Talgo to maintain the country's high-speed trains for 14 years.

Under the contract, RENFE will pay $917m to Bombardier and Spanish railway vehicle maker Talgo, of which Bombardier's share will be $405m.

Bombardier will provide preventive and corrective maintenance services of train power heads, power supply, the signalling and propulsion system and auxiliaries.

The maintenance activities will be carried out for the trains being developed by Bombardier in association with Talgo.

The maintenance work is expected to begin in 2010 at RENFE's depots in Spain.
