The PLASTWIL plastics processing plant was established in 1983. PLASTWIL is one of the leading suppliers of elements for rail and tram track structures in Poland. This production is an essential element for the plant's development, and it is based on plastic products.

PLASTIC RAIL FASTENING ELEMENTS

The services offered by the company include cushions, electro-insulating pads, screw dowels, transverse and longitudinal insulations, and other accessories for rail, tram and crane track structures.

Besides plastics processing, the company offers services involving mechanical metal working, which include working of cast-iron anchors for pre-tensioned pre-stressed concrete sleepers. PLASTWIL has the ability to make injection moulds for small elements, according to specific customer requirements.

TRACK ELECTRO-INSULATING PADS

The innovative character of PLASTWIL is proven by the fact that it is a co-owner of a patent for a shaped cushion and electro-insulating hold-down pad.

Besides this, in 2006 PLASTWIL submitted its application for patenting a new, innovative cushion to the patent office. PLASTWIL is continuously working on new designs of plastic rail fastening elements, and other technical elements. As a result of this, it has received a certificate for the SB-W1 fastening system.

SB-W1 SYSTEM FOR ELASTIC RAIL FASTENING

The SB-WI system may be used in ballast track structure on pre-tensioned prestressed concrete sleepers of all types, and in tracks of all categories.

The SB-W1 system consists of the following components:

• SB3/3 cast iron anchor
• PWE shaped cushion
• WKW60 electro-insulating hold-down pad
• SB4 spring clip for rails

PLASTWIL manufactures two elements of the SB-W1 system; these are the electro-insulating hold-down pad and shaped cushion. The company also supplies the third element of the system – the SB3/3 anchor.

Completed design works and laboratory research performed at the Railway Engineering Research and Development Centre (Centrum Naukowo-Techniczne Kolejnictwa) in Warsaw have led to the implementation of a new PWE cushion in the SB-W1 system. The cushion is characterised by its high absorption of dynamic loads (over 50%) and resistance to repeated loads related to the change of static and dynamic rigidity.

RAILWAY ACCESSORY PLASTIC INJECTION MOULDS

PLASTWIL provides a whole range of services, from new product designs, the preparation of technical specifications, to the making of injection moulds. For its customers, the company makes injection moulds for elements according to their orders, as soon as it receives a model of an element, or documentation.

CAST IRON TRACK ANCHORS

While PLASTWIL's metal working department is responsible for mechanical metal working, it also mechanically works the SB3/3 cast iron anchor for the railway industry, which is purchased by Polish concrete sleeper production plants.

To confirm the perfect functioning of PLASTWIL's quality management system, it has an ISO 9001:2000 certificate of compliance, obtained in February 2006, and issued by the TüV Rheinland Polska certification body. In 2007 the company implemented an inhouse production control system as a compliance assessment system for plastic elements.
