Electric Locomotive Derailment on the Kiziterinka-Protochny Section of the North Caucasus Railway on December 28, 2025

On December 28, 2025, at 3:35 a.m., a freight train locomotive derailed on the Kiziterinka-Protochny section in Rostov-on-Don. There were no injuries. Trains have been rerouted to the adjacent track.

As a result of the derailment, 20 long-distance trains and five commuter trains were delayed for up to four hours.

Railway workers are taking all necessary measures to reduce the train backlog.
North Caucasus Railway apologizes to passengers for the inconvenience. Passenger train service on the Kiziterinka-Protochny section in Rostov-on-Don, partially disrupted by a freight train locomotive derailment, has been fully restored and is operating on two tracks.

Over 160 North Caucasus Railway employees and five pieces of equipment were involved in the restoration work.
Currently, 33 passenger trains, including six commuter trains, are more than one hour behind schedule.

Passengers on trains delayed for more than four hours have been provided with meals.
