New driver's seat - for each locomotive



The safety of train traffic on railways directly depends on the working conditions of locomotive crews, therefore, in the currently implemented program "Safety of work in railway transport for 2001", approved by the decree of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of March 26, 2001, an important place is given to the re-equipment of drivers' cabins. In particular, it provides for equipping the cabins with a KL-7500 driver's seat, which is manufactured by the Vyatka Machine-Building Enterprise (VMP) AVITEK. The introduction of these chairs is also included in the federal program to improve working conditions and safety for the period 2001-2005.


KL-7500 is a driver's seat with improved ergonomic characteristics, developed by specialists from leading industry institutes VNITI and VNIIZHT. Today, it is the only one in Russia that has a quality certificate from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and is recommended for installation on traction rolling stock. The chair not only provides a comfortable position for the driver during work, but also prevents diseases related to professional activity (vibration sickness and diseases of the musculoskeletal system).

The design of the chair takes into account the working conditions of the machinists as much as possible: the height of the seat and the angle of the backrest are adjustable, it rotates 360° and moves back and forth, the armrests recline and are fixed in several positions. A padded seat made of polyurethane foam cushions with adjustable lumbar support reduces fatigue, vibration is reduced due to the vibration-proof mechanism.

During the production process, the design of the chair is constantly being improved, taking into account the comments and wishes of the machinists, feedback from specialists of the locomotive industry. In all cases of problems, employees of the repair and maintenance department of the company go directly to the depot, repair and put the chairs into operation. Design engineers analyze the causes of the failure of individual components of the device and, based on this, make changes to the design documentation. In particular, the vibration-proof characteristics of the chair suspension have been significantly improved, and the service life and reliability of the main components and mechanisms have been increased. In general, machinists and specialists of locomotive services note the increased reliability and comfort of the seats (some reviews about the work of the chairs were published in the magazine "Locomotive" No. 1 for 2001).

The KL-7500 seats are installed both on newly built locomotives and MVPS, and on operated rolling stock during major repairs. For this purpose, the Design Bureau of the Central Office of the Ministry of Railways has developed documentation for their placement in the cabins of old types of locomotives.

The KL-7500 is being installed on new equipment manufactured by JSC Demikhovsky MSZ, JSC Torzhoksky VSZ, JSC Kolomenskiy Zavod HC, JSC NPO NEVZ, JSC Tulazheldormash, JSC Kaluga-Putmash, FGIK Kambarsky MSZ. The updated locomotives that have undergone major repairs at the Voronezh TRZ, Chelyabinsk ZRZ, Sverdlovsk PRMZ, and Ussuriysky LRZ are also equipped with these modern seats.

There is a steady growth trend in their supplies to the railways. In 2001, sales increased by 2 times compared to the previous year. KL 7500 chairs were purchased by the East Siberian, North Caucasian, Oktyabrskaya, Kuibyshevskaya highways. This year, the Unecha, Vyazma, and Likhobory locomotive depots purchased KL chairs for the upgraded equipment. Export deliveries to Ukraine and Latvia are carried out. We have already applied for seats in 2002. North. Sverdlovsk, Zabaikalskaya, Southeastern, East Siberian and Moscow roads. Preliminary applications make it possible to plan the production of chairs and ensure the need for them in a timely manner. And judging by the number of applications that have already been received, such a need really exists, and the heads of the locomotive industry are looking for funds to equip the driver's cabins with KL-7500 seats.
