Train Derailment in Scotland Leaves Eight Injured

07 June 2010

A train derailment in Scotland on 6 June injured eight people and left the train carriages teetering over a 15m embankment.

The Scotrail train, travelling between Glasgow and Oban, caught fire after derailing in the Loch Awe area shortly before 9pm GMT.

Strathclyde Police said nobody was seriously hurt but two of those in hospital have suffered minor spinal injuries.

A Scotrail spokesman said the cause of the accident is still unknown and an investigation is underway.
