Saudi Arabia is planning to construct an internal rail network in the holy city of Mecca.
Two international companies are expected to carry out a study to connect this network to the railways coming into the city.
The study will also look into linking all parts of Mecca by train, according to a report by Jeddah-based Okaz daily.
