Dubai Metro Gets New Stations

04 May 2010

All 29 new stations have been completed on the Dubai Red Line, according to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority.

Out of this, seven stations are expected to open on 30 April and another three on 15 May.

Around 21 of the 29 stations are intended to be operational by May, according to gulfnews.com.

Dubai Metro is also planning to introduce ten more trains with the opening of the new stations.

The move is expected to reduce travel time from ten to six minutes during peak hours, and to eight minutes during off-peak hours.

The authorities have estimated that passenger numbers will reach 35 million by the end of 2010.
