Pennsylvania 2035 Plan to Guide Rail Development

23 April 2010

The Pennsylvania Intercity Passenger and Freight Rail Plan will give guidance on future rail needs and better passenger and freight rail development, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

The Pennsylvania rail plan for 2035 is expected to support federal and state rail investments within the US state.

PennDOT said the plan is expected to support economic growth and environmental sustainability.

The plan offers additional ways to analyse goods movement in other modes.

In addition, the plan satisfies the provisions of the Railroad Safety Enhancement Act of 2008, the State Rail Plans and the Pennsylvania Rail Freight Preservation and Improvement Act Comprehensive Rail Freight Study.
