The high-speed rail link between Hong Kong and mainland China will be produced by Leighton Asia in a $417m contract awarded by MTR Corporation.
Under the contract, the company will construct tunnels and ventilation buildings on the Tse Uk Tsuen to Shek Yam section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link.
The cross-boundary transport infrastructure project also includes the construction of a 7.6km twin-track tunnel between Tse Uk Tsuen and Shek Yam.
Leighton Asia managing director Hamish Tyrwhitt said the company was excited to be providing such a key role in this project.
Work is scheduled to begin in March 2010 and reach completion by 2015 and will be undertaken in cooperation with Macmahon Holdings.
