GE to Promote Pakistan's Rail Transport Revamp

US firm GE has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Pakistan to help promote the modernisation of its transportation system.

Pakistan plans to develop more efficient and environmentally sound rail transport systems to help meet its projected energy demand of 54,000MW by 2020.

Under the agreement GE will work in Pakistan's transportation sector identifying potential sources of funding and exploring potential investment opportunities.
