SNCF Orders More Alstom Trainsets

14 January 2010

French National Railway company SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer français) has awarded a €130m ($188m) contract to Alstom to supply 19 Coradia Polyvalent trains.

The low-floor single-level regional train can reach top speeds of 160kmph in its electric or hybrid versions and operates at two different voltages of 25kV and 1,500V.

The order is based on an option in a previous 2009 deal of €800m ($1.15bn) for 100 Coradia Polyvalent trains, which includes an option of up to 1,000 units in the future.

The 119 trainsets will be used in the regions of Alsace, Aquitaine, Lorraine, Midi-Pyrenees, Pays de la Loire, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur and Picardie.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2013 and end in mid-2015.
