AECOM JV to Support New Jersey Rail Bridge Project

07 January 2010

An AECOM Technology-led joint venture has received a contract to provide support services for the Portal Bridge Capacity Enhancement project in New Jersey, US.

Under the $18m contract, the joint venture will provide construction management consultant services for early action elements of a planned seven-and-a-half-year assignment, at an overall cost of $94m.

The project aims to replace the two-track, 99-year-old Portal Bridge swing span over the Hackensack River on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor with two new two-track and three-track fixed bridges.

The replacement bridges are scheduled for completion in 2017, with early construction expected to begin in late spring 2010.
