Oman to Seek Railway Bids in December

07 October 2009

Oman is planning to invite bids to build a 230km railway in December.

The railway is part of the planned $25bn Gulf Arab network.

The bids in December are for the project's first phase, while tenders for the project's second and third phases are expected to be issued in 2010.

The third phase involves building a rail network from the south of Oman to Yemen.

Oman is consulting on the project with French rail company Systra.
