Victoria Station to get £695m Facelift

05 August 2009

The UK has approved a £695m grant for a seven-year renovation work plan on London Underground's Victoria station.

The station size will be increased by almost half.

A new ticket hall and entrance to the station beneath Bressenden Place will be created. This will save the passengers coming from Victoria Street the trouble of crossing the complex of streets near the existing station entrance.

The station will also get seven new lifts and nine new escalators for easy access to platforms.

The renovation is aimed at reducing congestion and accommodating the increasing passenger traffic.

Work is expected to start in 2010.
