US company Austin Bridge & Road LP has been awarded a contract for its engineering design services on the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Blue Line light rail transit system (LRT) in the US.
Parsons Brinckerhoff will provide civil, trackwork, structural, architectural and geotechnical services among other design services for the project, which involves building a 4.5-mile double-track LRT extension from Downtown Dallas Garland to Downtown Rowlett.
The work includes designing a new station at Downtown Rowlett featuring a park-and-ride facility with a capacity of 800 parking spaces.
The work is scheduled to begin later in 2009. The revenue service will start in December 2012.
