A new light rail scheme in Jerusalem will be up and running in just over two years, according to Israeli officials.
The light rail system will begin a trial run for four months before the official start of service in September 2010, according to Director-General of the Jerusalem Municipality Yair Maayan, writes The Jerusalem Post.
Last year, officials confirmed the long-awaited light rail project - originally set to begin running in 2006 - had been repeatedly delayed due to a lack of manpower and construction problems.
The NIS4.2bn project, jointly funded by the Transportation Ministry and the Jerusalem Municipality, is the first of its kind in Israel.
