China will begin research on an upgraded version of its China Railway High-Speed (CHR) train, able to reach speeds of 350km/h.
The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Railways signed an agreement on Tuesday to collaborate in the development of the new train, writes Chinese news agency Xinhua.
The ministries did not specify a development timetable.
In January this year, a ceremony was held to mark the start of construction of China's high-speed railway between Beijing and Shanghai.
