An Atkins-led consortium has won a contract to design the first stretch of a 60km high-speed rail line in Denmark, which will link to the 180km route from Copenhagen to the German border.
The consortium, which includes Vössing, EKJ Consulting engineers and Sweco, secured the contract from Danish infrastructure manager Rail Net Denmark.
Under the deal, the consortium will deliver alignment design, full procurement strategy, programme logistics for construction sites and access roads, detailed track design as well as overhead line design and delivery.
The first phase of the £1.2bn ($1.9bn) project involves the construction of 60km of double track railway from Copenhagen to Ringsted.
The first phase will be complete in 2018, with trains initially running at 200kp/h until the high-speed line is fully commissioned.
