Bogie exchange and transfer systems

Andrew Engineering has developed a unique solution for rolling-stock maintenance, removing the need for expensive civil works. The bogie exchange system (BES) is ideal for new facilities or for retrofitting to existing depots.

Incorporating jacks for car body lifting, the BES is designed to provide up to eight-car change-out or a single bogie exchange. With a lift of only 50mm, other rolling stock maintenance can be carried out while the exchange takes place, reducing turnaround time.

The BES is easily configured to take varying wheel centres, making change-out of multiple types of rolling-stock on the one line quicker and cheaper. Turntables and bogie lift platforms are used to transfer bogies around the facility.

Depot personnel protection systems

In association with Zonegreen, Andrew Engineering can provide a full range of depot personnel protection systems. Commonly referred to as depot protection systems (DPS), they protect staff and equipment by ensuring the safe and controlled movement of rail vehicles into and out of depots.

This allows train maintenance operations to be conducted without endangering the safety of staff, and damaging other maintenance equipment in the depot.

Zonegreen's SMART™ depot personnel protection system (SDPPS) is a highly advanced, state-of-the-art protection system incorporating the use of intelligent distributed control and communication technology, as well as electronic personnel data keys to identify staff working in different safety zones.

The depot personnel protection system is fully programmable and can be set up to the precise requirements of the depot. It is pre-configured to function with other Zonegreen equipment, but can be modified for connection to third-party products.

Andrew Engineering also offers the full range of Eurogamma vehicle lifting systems. With applications in rail and light rail, Eurogamma jacks are versatile and cost-competitive.

Eurogamma jacks offer synchronous lifting on standard and dual encoders, both analogue and digital. These jacks offer outstanding safety and reliability.

The jacks can be standalone items or fully-integrated into Andrew Engineering's bogie exchange system.
