Santon - Electro-Mechanical Switches

Santon is specialised in switch technology and supplies many customer-specific solutions in the field of electro-mechanical switchgear. The solutions often concern situations where standard switches are either not satisfactory, or must be adapted to meet customer requirements.

Electro-mechanical switch development

Santon has its own department for the development of switches. This department has expertise in electrics, mechanics and a combination of both. The developments are manufactured ourselves, often by the fitting shop. By manufacturing the electro-mechanical switches ourselves, we have a unique combination of theory and practice.

Electro-mechanical switchgear

Santon electro-mechanical switches are available from 16A to 1,000A and up to 1,500VAC and DC. They are shock and vibration-proof, robust, and suitable for switching control signals (due to self cleaning contacts).

Standard switch ranges are 16A, 25A, 40A, 63A, 100A, 200A, 300A, 500A, 800A, 1,000A / 500V, 600V, 900V, 1,000VDC21 / 2-poles, 4-poles, 6-poles and 8-poles. They can be hand-operated, motor driven or both, and customised assemblies are available on request.

Our electro-mechanical switches are optionally available in plastic or steel enclosures of IP54 to IP68, chemical resistant and EMC-tight. They have key locks, interlocking mechanisms, padlocking possibilities and signal lamps. Customised electro-mechanical switches are available.

We also produce train door switches, battery switches, wagon connection switches, multi-pole selector switches, driver direction switches, linear direction switches, cabin heating switches, etc.

Santon DC switches

Santon DC switches are available from 1A up to 1,000A, and up to 1,000VDC. Santon DC switches have a construction which enables a very-short power shut-off time of approx 3ms, to avoid the DC flame arc. This high switching-off speed is independent of the speed of turning the knob.

Santon has over 50 years of experience in DC switching, and supplies her switches to all market-leading companies.

Silios IP65 box switches

Santon has a standard range of switches in IP65 boxes called Silios, with knock-outs, glands and din rail for the solar industry. On customer request, fuse holders, over-voltage protection and electronic earth fault-detection systems are available.

Santon Group

Santon's main markets are the Netherlands, Great Britain, Germany and Spain. Santon has a branch in each of these countries, namely Santon Holland, Santon Switchgear and Santon. All these branches are part of the Santon Group.

The development, manufacturing and purchasing of materials takes place in the head office of Santon, which is located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The activities in the UK, Germany and Spain concern sales and service.

Our electro-mechanical switches are Kema, Tüv and UL-approved. We have references from Deutsche Bahn (DE), Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NL), and UK railway and light-rail systems.
