In recognition of the importance of effective partnership working, Network Rail has decided to hold an annual awards event to recognise and reward excellence in this area. The inaugural event was held in July in London and was hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr. Attended by leading figures from across the industry, achievements in 10 separate categories were recognised from projects across the UK.
In the face of very stiff competition, Westinghouse's entry in the Team Contribution category was judged to be the winner, recognising the vitally important role that our collaborative work in partnership with Morgan Est and Colas Rail played in successfully delivering the highly complex and challenging Edinburgh Waverley station project.
Over the course of 11 stages and a series of major commissionings, the project team delivered full signalling and control for the remodelled Edinburgh Waverley station, as well as the design and installation of a new integrated electronic control centre. Each stage was delivered to specification, on time and to budget.
Speaking at the event, Network Rail’s chief executive, Iain Coucher, said: "Selecting the winners was tough and all our short-listed entrants should feel proud to have made it through such an impressive pool of entries. Our finalists have made a real difference to Network Rail and the millions of people who travel by rail every day. Congratulations to everyone."
