Fibre-optic splice / distribution products

Mainframe is currently delivering contracts for Thales on the London Underground (LUL) Jubilee and Northern Line Upgrade Programme (JNUP) and Dubai Metro (Red and Green Lines) with scope including provision of:

• Fibre-optic splice enclosures (FOSE)
• Fibre-optic distribution frames (FODF)
• Fibre-optic distribution racks (FODR)
• PLC racks
• Communication racks
• Patch cords / break-out cables

The PLC and communication racks, containing free-wired relay circuitry, interface local monitoring / alarm systems and operator workstations (via the fibre-optic network) with the Thales SELTRAC communications-based train control (CBTC) system being provided for JNUP.

Tap boxes, splice enclosures, cords and cables for underground railways and metro systems

Mainframe also supplied a variety of fibre-optic products (tap boxes, splice enclosures, cords and cables) into the Transforming the Tube / CBS Outdoor Alive project to support work providing digital escalator panels (DEP) and cross track projection (XTP) screens across a number of London Underground stations and lines.

Mainframe's housings are IP68-rated, LUL-compliant (therefore particularly appropriate for underground environments), suitable for trackside installation and capable of accommodating other (non-fibre related) equipment - offering potential to reduce project-implementation costs.

Pre-wire / rack assembly capability

In addition to a wide range of products, comprising in excess of 2,000 standard items, Mainframe has a full pre-wire / rack assembly capability, which is not restricted to fibre-optic solutions. In-house testing of fibre-optic connections

In order to maintain the highest possible quality and to minimise insertion losses all fibre-optic connections are tested in-house by Mainframe technicians using the latest digital automated interferometry techniques.
