Aldridge Railway Signals was originally a division of the Aldridge Group of companies, which is the largest traffic signalling equipment manufacturer in Australia. We have over 50 years of experience in railway technology and are also a manufacturer of a wide range of floodlighting applications. Our floodlighting products are also used in the mining industry for various applications such as dragline units and mining vehicles. Aldridge Railway Signals' diverse product range includes railway signals and associated mounting hardware, floodlights from 500W to 3.5kW, minor road street lighting, locomotive lighting, power reticulation panels, LED and fibre optic signals, and traffic control safety signs. Quality standards accreditation for ISO 9001 is applied to the manufacture of all these products. We are currently converting all railway signal products to LED technology, which has many advantages to the rail industry, mainly in the areas of maintenance, energy savings and ease of use. Our new range of signals has been designed, developed and manufactured entirely in-house. Vertical and horizontal shunt and turnout signalsAldridge's vertical and horizontal shunt and turnout signals are powered by either 130V, 60W lamps or a single SL35, 12V 24W / 24W dual filament lamp. The housing design was developed using the knowledge and experience we have gained in building housings and optical systems over the past 20 years. The design's internal guttering and gasketted doors ensure that dust-proofing and weatherproofing of the housing is durable and effective over the life of the product. The lenses are designed and manufactured within Australia, which allows us the flexibility to mould lenses to US, UK and Australian requirements. Stencil route indicatorsStencil route indicators are powered by 130V, 40WBC lamps or fibre-optic displays. The housing was developed using the 20 years of housing experience Aldridge has gained in building housings and optical systems. The design, with its internal guttering and gasketted doors, ensures the dust-proofing and weatherproofing of the housing. The mask is manufactured out of aluminium and ensures that the signal is intact and not subject to peeling off or deterioration over time. The fibre-optic option allows lamp monitoring and / or changeover and permits many possibilities (such as multiple displays within a single housing). Railway signal lanternsAldridge railway signal lanterns are the result of 20 years' experience in the design of optical systems and housings. The lantern utilises a proven lantern housing design. Careful production controls ensure durability and longevity. A wide range of lenses are available, including polycarbonate and glass. Spreader lenses are also available. The dust sealed lens beam enclosure significantly reduces optical system cleaning requirements. This is an important feature in reducing labour costs. The transformers are vacuum impregnated, conservatively rated and provide safe, reliable performance lamps. A range of chromacity co-ordinates is available to suit most specifications. The shinkolite is used in the amber and green aspects to reduce sun phantom. The signal is produced using a SL 35 dual-filament lamp at the correct focal point for the inner doublet and then projected onto the outer lens. Railway signal hardware and accessoriesTo partner their wide range of lantern products, Aldridge offers a comprehensive range of signal mounting hardware and accessories. Our clients can select suitable items from an extensive range to meet the needs of widely varying hood and lantern mounting requirements. Manufactured from quality materials, all these products offer durable and reliable long-term field service. Our range of accessories includes:
