Lumara Timber Sydney is Australia’s leading supplier of untreated durable hardwood railway timbers for the railway industry, including sleepers, crossing timbers and bridge timbers. All timbers have a high resistance to termites and decay. Lumara’s timber is comprised from a mixture of suitable Australian tree species selected to comply to the AS3818.1 Australian Standard for railway timber. These timbers have been used for railway and general construction throughout the world since Australia was first settled.

By using a combination of more than 70 sawmills Australia-wide Lumara have been able to supply more than 400,000 sleepers per annum for the main corridor and branch lines throughout Australia. These lines stretch from one side of the country to the other, inflicting some of the harshest conditions known to timber.

Lumara’s sleepers include a wide range of durable eucalyptus species available in many sizes and lengths to suit different needs. They can be supplied undrilled or drilled to suit any plate pattern.

Crossing timbers

Lumara's crossing timbers include a wide range of durable eucalyptus species available in many sizes and lengths to suit different needs. Specific orders for sets can be made up.

Bridge timbers

Ranging from lengths of 2.6m up to 12.0m Lumara’s bridge timbers are made from some of the world’s strongest and durable eucalyptus species. With additional profiling, drilling and painting service means Lumara’s products are ready for installation.

Sustainable timber products for the rail industry

All timber is sourced from sustainable renewable forests. The majority of these forests have obtained a forestry certification scheme. The Australian Forestry Standard (AFS) is a nationally and internationally recognised certification. Timber products are much more environmentally friendly than man made products like concrete and plastics and burning of fossil fuels.
