MBB Palfinger - Wheelchair Access Ramps and Lifts

MBB Palfinger are widely acknowledged as the international market leaders for reliable and safe wheelchair access ramps and lifts for trains, trams and buses.

MBB Palfinger, part of the Palfinger group of companies, have more than 50 years' experience of manufacturing and supplying hydraulic lifting systems for both commercial and passenger applications worldwide.

Train, bus and tram access ramps and lift

Designed to be operated by authorised railway personnel, the MBB Trainlift is ideal for both inter-city and regional trains, lifting up to a height of 1,000mm.

MBB's mechanical and electric Mediramps are designed to provide access to both low floor trams and buses. They may be fitted internally or under the vehicle floor, either at the time of construction or as a retrofit. The fully automatic Medilift, also designed for low floor buses and trams, features a shallow incline, making it very easy and safe for wheelchair users and / or disabled passengers..

MBB are also able to provide you with a wide range of alternative access solutions for buses, minibuses and trains from our sister company, Ratcliff Palfinger – please contact the company for full details.

Semi-automatic wheelchair lifts for trains

The MBB Trainlift semi-automatic hydraulic column wheelchair lift, which can lift up to a height of 1,000mm, has been specially designed for use on inter-city and regional trains. It provides a safe and comfortable way for wheelchair users to board and alight.

The lift is mounted inside the carriage entrance (minimum aperture width is 850mm) and may only be operated by authorised personnel. Currently 1,100 MBB Trainlifts are in use in Germany and throughout the world.

The RVT-300 wheelchair lift for trains from Ratcliff Palfinger is an alternative to the Trainlift and can be easily fitted or retrofitted into most train carriages.

Wheelchair lifts for low-floor trams and buses

The Medilift® fully automatic electric lift is the ideal solution for providing wheelchair access to low-floor trams and buses. It stows neatly inside the front door entrance, allowing regular access to the vehicle via the same entrance.

The wheelchair user alerts the driver that the lift is needed by pushing the button located by the entrance door and the driver operates the lift using a remote control without leaving his seat.

The lift is fitted with sensors to prevent the lift operating if obstructed, and is integrated into the vehicle safety system. An automatic ramp stop provides additional security for the wheelchair user during lift operation.

Electric cassette ramp for low-floor vehicles

The new Mediramp® floor version (FV) is a fully automatic electric cassette ramp specially designed for low-floor vehicles. The cassette is mounted into the floor behind the exit door, forming part of the floor, and is bolted down and connected to the vehicle's electrical circuit. The floor covering can then cover both the floor and ramp for neat finish.

When the ramp is extended part of the cassette acts as a bridging plate, providing smooth entry and exit to and from the vehicle.
