Based in the south-east of England, monitor manufacturer Kent Modular Electronics (KME) has a prominent presence in the rail industry. Working with a variety of companies across the rail network, KME's monitors are currently being utilised in control rooms, train cabs and in public information displays. LCD for CRT replacement, touch-screen, IP sealed housing and sunlight-viewable displays are just a sample of the many monitor enhancements available as part of the customer-focused service offered by the company. LCD monitors for CRT replacement Now that the CRT era has ended, CRT monitors are no longer being manufactured. Along with our standard LCD screens, KME now specialise in LCD for CRT replacement monitors that are designed to fit into the existing CRT chassis and are physically and mechanically compatible with the existing CRT monitors. The displays can also handle slow scan legacy signals. LCD display range – mounting options Manufactured in a wide variety of formats – including head, chassis, desktop, handheld, panel-mount and rack-mount – all our monitors offer versatile mounting options for flexibility. The standard rack-mounted displays are designed for 19in equipment racks and the head-mounted displays are designed for arm or wall-mount applications. Large format LCD displays Included in KME's standard range of monitors are their new large format displays, available in sizes up to 57in. Ruggedly designed to withstand the vigorous demands of station platforms and on-train use, they come with the option of IP sealing to make them suitable for installation outdoors. The monitors are suitable for a number of rail displays, such as digital signage, public information screens for platform and on-train applications, and control room screens. Custom LCD monitor designs With the standard range of LCD monitors, KME's dedicated team can custom design a display to suit any requirement. Additional extras that are popular on these displays include touch-screen capability; sun visors; KME's Helioview™ technologies; and legacy signal capability. Indoor and outdoor sunlight-viewable LCD displays Helioview transflective technology is an optically bonded glass system that enables transflective LCD screens to be used outdoors or in areas where a more rugged style is necessary. The transflective technology enables the LCD screen to work in direct sunlight by combining transmissive and reflective technologies to provide near perfect daylight viewing.
