CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT CAPABILITIESSigma Coachair Group equipment designs handle all rail application environments with ease using the latest technology in PLC, electronic controls and environmentally friendly refrigerants. Our latest designs have the capability to be fully integrated into a Train’s Operating Systems for driver and service technician information, monitoring and control. Sigma rail applications span the globe handling all types of conditions, from the cold climate of Switzerland on the Swiss Tilt Train, the mass crush of the Hong Kong subway, to the Malaysian Star LRV or the Eastern Oriental Express. This is in contrast to the Extreme heat within a locomotive Drivers cab crossing the Nullarbor desert of Australia. In all these differing temperatures the climate control systems regulate themselves to operator at predetermined temperature control settings providing passenger comfort. With the diverse range of applications that are required, our products are specifically designed and tailored to meet the customers’ exact requirements. The configuration and installation of units varies from roof, under car or side mounted packages. The capacity range is endless with our capability ranging from a single circuit 5kW cooling 3 kW heating unit, to a high capacity twin circuit 55kW cooling and 40kW heating unit. STRENGTH OF DESIGNAll units are designed within our engineering centre using the latest design technology of a combination of 3D modelling, Finite Element Analysis (FEM) and Failure Mode Effect Criticality Analysis (FMECA). This is to ensure that our product will withstand the most rigorous operating conditions and fit into areas that once where deemed impossible. This design process also gives us the ability to ensure the units will handle the elements, vibrations and have an extended life expectancy in their operating environment on the vehicle.
