Medcom is a leading Polish company providing advanced power electronics solutions, designing and manufacturing. For the last 22 years, Medcom has installed more than 16,000 units with unique features, extreme technical parameters and high reliability. Inverters and converters for the railway industryMedcom manufactures inverters for asynchronous drives and static converters applied in vehicles powered by 600VDC and 750VDC voltage traction. The drive inverters have built-in IGBT technology. Owing to the application of modern control systems, they ensure anti-slip control of the drive torque of the respective vehicle axles, effective ED braking within the whole speed range of the vehicle, and a possibility of emergency braking. Currently produced inverters with an output power range from 100kW to 300kW ensure very good driving parameters of the vehicle. Static converters with output power ranging from 5kW to 100kW ensure power supply for the subassemblies of the drive system and all other loads (control, lighting, compressors and fans). Additionally, the static converters may also supply air conditioning systems. Static converters for railway passenger coachesMedcom manufactures single and multi-system static converters that provide LV power supply in passenger coach installations, using the energy from the traction network. Multi-system converters have been designed with all kinds of voltages used in the European traction systems (according to UIC-550). The Devices are presently manufactured with an output power ranging from 6.5kW to 100kW. Output AC voltages have a very low level of harmonic distortion (THD), which reduces losses if loaded by a motor. With DC outputs, the converters co-operate with all types of batteries, ensuring proper charging characteristics and voltage thermal compensation. We also supply air conditioning systems in coaches. Converters may provide variable output frequency of the inverters. An auxiliary inverter (powered from the converter or 24VDC batteries) may be supplied together with other converters. It ensures power supply for 230 VAC receivers used inside coaches (e.g. for laptops). Inverters and converters for electric multiple units (EMU)Medcom manufactures propulsion systems for EMUs and static converters used to supply AC and DC loads in vehicles. Drive inverters are built with HV IGBT (6.5kV) technology, lower-separating costs through the use of air-cooling systems. Owing to the application of modern control systems, the inverters control the speed of each of the vehicle's, have effective ED braking with a driving torque within the whole range and also a possibility of emergency braking in case of blackout in the traction network. Currently manufactured 300kW and 500kW inverters provide very high driving parameters of the motor units. Their main advantages are a very low noise level and high driving comfort. Static converters, ranging from 26kW to 95kW ensure power supply for components of the power transmission system, as well as auxiliary circuits (control, lighting, compressors and fans) of the traction unit. The vehicle's heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems are also supplied from static converters.
