Rail couplers for light-rail vehicles to high-speed trains

The name Voith Turbo Scharfenberg still stands for quality and innovation after more than a century, since the concept of the automatic Scharfenberg coupler was born. Over the years, incessant technical refinements and up-to-date technology have made the Schaku one of the most prominent railway coupler systems in use all over the world, from light-rail vehicles up to high-speed trains.

Modular rail couplers

Today, the company has also made its mark as a system supplier for complete front-end solutions, including front-nose assemblies with energy absorbing components and control modules. A recent highlight is the modular coupler head One4, offering incomparable maintenance and repair benefits. As is our tradition, we are always up-to-date, or even ahead of our time.

Complete-drive rail power packs

DIWAPack, RailPack and TurboPack are the basic power packs for various power classes: the DIWAPack has a DIWArail transmission system with a capacity of up to 320kW, the RailPack has T 212 bre transmission in the power class up to 450kW, and the TurboPack has T 312 bre turbo transmission for input powers up to 650kW.

A diverse range of concepts is used for the carrier frame for the turbo transmission, for example flexible frames, compact frames or and single frames. Completed by cooling systems, final drives, cardan shafts and highly flexible couplings, as well as the Voith TracSys drive and vehicle control system, the Voith-Powerpack represents complete drive solutions.

Turbo transmission for six-cylinder diesel engines

The new reinforced T 211 re.4 turbo transmission has an increased power capacity of 350kW and has been adapted to new-generation six-cylinder diesel engines. A new VTDC drive control with monitoring and diagnosis function as well as an operating data storage facility is directly installed to the transmission. Available as an option is a hydrodynamic brake, which can be integrated into the vehicle braking system (blending).

Multi-purpose and mainline locomotive transmission

With the new TurboFlexx transmission for multi-purpose and mainline locomotives, Voith Turbo offers advanced solutions for the power spectrum from 800kW to 2,400kW. Using modular design, TurboFlexx transmission is available in two or three-converter versions (L 520 bre or L 530 bre), ensuring higher traction at low engine speeds. The system distinguishes itself by excellent efficiency and allows lower fuel consumption.

Quiet, optimised-consumption and high-efficiency rail cooling systems

Voith Turbo offers cooling systems that are precisely adapted to customers' specific requirements. With noise-optimised, sickle-shaped fan blades, special geometries and aerodynamics, they convince both by quiet operation and excellent performance.

Electro-mechanical drive systems

Voith Turbo's EmTrac range of electro-mechanical drive products now covers the entire range from control technology through the entire driveline, including high-voltage equipment, traction inverters, transformers to the motor-gear unit and final drives and bearings.
