JD Rail Solutions was founded through rail industry demand for a design of rail level crossing that could be used in the harshest climatic conditions and withstand the constant impact forces of the world's heaviest mining equipment, which no level crossing manufacturer had so far succeeded in providing.

JD Rail Solutions has developed the Advan-Bridge level crossing design concept that can meet these demands and also:

• Carry 500t or more HaulPacs
• Be installed quicker than any other rail level crossing
• Be removed for maintenance quicker than any other rail level crossing
• Does not interfere with the natural track structure – no bolting, clipping, screwing, chaining to rails or sleepers is required
• Has a unique interlocking design that locks the panels into the roadway, not the rail structure

Fast-assembly rail level crossings

The Advan-Bridge level crossing's panels are made like a bridge – a strong steel structure with concrete filler to allow smooth vehicle transfer. It is the world's fastest-fitting rail level crossing - 3m in less than 13min with two men and a 2t crane - and also provides the fastest removal and fitting of panels for maintenance (7min).

Panels are made in 3m lengths and can be fitted on radius curves.

Level crossing lockdown system

The Advan-Bridge level crossing is perfect for high-speed vehicles because of its unique lockdown system, which makes it impossible for panels to be sucked out of place by the vacuum of long, fast-moving vehicles.

Flexible level-crossing panels

Any panel section of the Advan-Bridge level crossing can be removed at any time to inspect the track below without the need to remove the entire level crossing. Panels are identical, so can be removed, turned and placed into different locations without any problems and without disturbing the road surface. They do not shrink over time.

Panels can be fitted with or without flange rubbers, and fit any size of gauge, rail and sleeper shape. Synthetic rubber supports serve as inbuilt energy absorbers of passing vehicles.

Insulated, non-rust level crossings

Our design allows the track structure to breathe, reducing the rust on the rail and sleeper fasteners. Water is also allowed to flow as originally designed.

The crossing is fully insulated between the tracks. Surface texture allows maximum grip for vehicles in all types of weather.

Temporary level crossings

The Advan-Bridge level crossing is ideal for temporary level crossings, as 12m can be installed in less than 1hr and removed in the same time.

Level crossings for the mining industry

Within a short period of time the Advan-Bridge became the preferred level crossing for BHP Billiton Heavy Haul Rail (the world's heaviest rail network), and is currently being fitted throughout its rail network. Because of JD Rail Solutions' recognized ability to manufacture rail level crossings, they are widely used in the mining industry.

Pedestrian to heavy haul level crossings

Due to the success of the heavy haul rail level crossing and through natural engineering evolution, JD Rail Solutions has expanded its rail level crossings range to cover everything from pedestrian to 500t and more heavy haul crossings.

Level crossing design

We at JD Rail Solutions are great believers in walking the track: you can't start any engineering design unless you physically go and examine the real-life situation and fully understand the requirements. We also communicate with those rail personnel whom have been fitting level crossings of various types for many years and get their feedback on existing problems.

Once we are confident of the requirements for the rail industry then we start on the design process, each step verifying and validating that the requirements are met. Such a process has been crucial to producing the Advan-Bridge, the level crossing that the rail industry has been wanting for many years.
