Million Pound Turnover for Fibre Optic

02 July 2010

The UK's leading supplier of composite and bespoke communication cables and connectors has announced a record £1m turnover in fibre optic cable alone in the last financial year.

Nottingham-based Webro sold in excess of one million metres of fibre in the 12 months leading to March 2010, double that of the previous year, thanks to the increased broadband usage in the UK and the Government's planned investment in the broadband infrastructure.

Webro's managing director, Roger Webster, said: "We've experienced more than a 100% increase in fibre optic sales in the past 12 months and with the Government's pledge to provide superfast broadband to nearly every UK household by 2012, the coming years are going to be a very exciting time for our business."

Webro has a 30-year legacy in the coaxial, telecom, security and fibre optic industries and currently supplies the UK's leading TV, satellite and broadband distributors. It is also working with a number of the digital regions, helping manage the digital switchover.

Roger added: "In addition to our fibre optic growth, we’ve also experienced substantial sales of our WF-100 coaxial cable too. In fact, we sold enough in 2009 to stretch around the world!"
