Surge protection for power supply systems is part of a complete lightning protection system (IEC 62305). It ensures that power supplies will not be affected by surges generated by thunderstorms or daily switching operations.
VALVETRAB compact VAL-CP from Phoenix Contact protects against isolation breakdown and arcing ground due to surges, in a space saving (only 12mm per channel), pluggable design. Damages of devices will be avoided by using VAL-CP in power supply systems such as railway control centers or in signal boxes. Due to the rated voltage of 350 V AC, it can be used world wide. The IEC 60364-5-53 informs about installation conditions.
Due to modular SPD-plugs, maintenance work can be performed without touching the installation. VAL-CP is testable on demand or during periodical inspections. Therefore, system availability and system functionality will be assured around the clock.
