In 1934, a program of fundamental technical reconstruction of railways was developed. In the same year, in accordance with the order of the People's Commissariat of Railways, the traction service was transformed into two independent services: carriage and locomotive farms.
In August 1934, a wagon depot of the Batraki station of the Samara-Zlatoust Railway was organized on the basis of the wheelset replacement station. Subsequently, it became known as the carriage maintenance depot of Oktyabrsk station of the Kuibyshev road.
The car depot consisted of several workshops, including:
- assembly—for the production of scheduled repairs of freight wagons;
- mechanical;
- auxiliary and procurement;
- wheeled;
- non-stop repairs at the exchange point;
- reception and two acceptance parks.
In 1936, a workshop of an auto control point was organized in the Batraki station wagon depot for the repair of braking devices and devices, maintenance of compressor units with an air supply network at the station. In the same year, a freight train maintenance station was set up at Batraki station.
In 1941, by order of the People's Commissariat of Railways No. 459/C dated August 4, a foundry for the production of spare parts from cast iron with a smelting capacity of one thousand tons of metal per year was organized in the Batraki wagon depot, as well as a flushing and steaming station for hot and cold treatment of tank boilers. In 1954, the foundry was closed.
The wheelset repair shops from the city of Kuibyshev were transferred to the Batraki station and operated as an independent business unit until 1959. In accordance with the order of 10.10.1959 № N/333 VKM Oktyabrsk stations were merged with Oktyabrsk wagon depot.
In 1974, the technological equipment of the wagon assembly shop was reconstructed. At the same time, a trolley shop was built and put into operation with the introduction of an in-line repair method.
By this time, the Oktyabrsk station maintenance center had seven parks.:
- the train departure park of its formation;
-sorting;
- the train departure park of its formation;
- sorting;
- receiving and dispatching fleet of even-numbered trains;
- odd-numbered train pick-up and drop-off fleet;
- a fleet of even-numbered trains.
In 1988, the wheel shop was reconstructed and a roller workshop was built. This significantly increased the capacity of the combined wheel and roller workshop.
In 1996, the depot repair of eight-axle tanks was organized at the enterprise. In the same year, the Oktyabrsk railway depot was reorganized into the Oktyabrsky section of the Syzran railway depot.
The Oktyabrsk operational carriage depot was re-established on October 1, 2005 on the basis of the operational complex of the Syzran and Tolyatti carriage depots in accordance with the order of the head of the Kuibyshev Road dated July 1, 2005, No. N/181.
Today, the Oktyabrsk depot includes three main production sites (Syzransky, Oktyabrsky and Zhigulevsky). All the workshops of the depot are located on them, including:
- three maintenance points and a current uncoupling repair point located at Oktyabrsk stations, - a control post at Tsarevshchyna station;
- a washing and steaming station, a point for changing wheel sets of passenger cars at the Syzran station and a point for preparing cars at the Syzran I station. The distance between the depot sites ranges from 2 to 146 km. The total staff of the depot is 582 people.
The average length of the warranty sections of freight trains is 749.31 km (16 warranty arms with a total length of 11989 km). The depot's longest sections of responsibility are to the Bataysk station of the North Caucasian Road (1,260 km) and to the Chelyabinsk station of the South Ural Road (1,127 km).
To ensure the safety of train traffic and fulfill production and economic tasks, the depot was equipped with modern technological equipment. The specialists managed to organize decent working conditions and qualitatively improve the process of technical staff training. The carriage service has made a great contribution to solving all the problems that arise in this case.
So, in 2006 — 2009, the Oktyabrsk operational carriage depot received high-tech equipment under various programs. For example, the GPA-02, UZOT-RM installations, and a set of small-scale mechanization facilities that can not only facilitate the work performed, but also significantly speed it up.
This ensures that labor productivity indicators are met. But not only new equipment was supplied to the depot, modernization and major repairs of existing equipment (cranes, electric motors, electric jacks, compressors) were also carried out.
To improve the knowledge of vocational training and TOP workers on a PC, three individual vandal-proof workstations (IRS) have been introduced at the depot. They have a "training complex for wagon inspectors and locksmiths for the repair of rolling stock." This program is used to test employees every shift before they are on duty.
Equipping the computer classroom at Oktyabrsk Vocational School with new PCs, examination and training programs, and comfortable ergonomic furniture made the process of technical study not only useful, but also enjoyable.
Also, in order to consolidate theory and improve the quality of technical education, the creation of a training ground at Oktyabrsk Vocational School began in 2009. Five main types of wagons, an operating installation for testing the brakes of the wagon, various models of trolleys, assemblies and parts of freight wagons significantly facilitate the training process.
The depot has recently undergone major repairs to 11 buildings. This improved the working conditions and allowed us to fulfill the aesthetic requirements set by the Company's management.
Last year, an automated control system was introduced at the Oktyabrsk station maintenance point. In 2009, the depot was selected as an experimental one for the implementation of a pilot project on automated document management (AS ETD).
The successes and stability of the Oktyabrsk depot did not go unnoticed. In 2008, the depot staff was assigned to conduct one regional (for roads in the European part of the Russian Federation) and one network school of excellence. In 2009, a road competition for the title of "The best inspector of wagons of the Kuibyshev Road in 2009" was held on the basis of the Oktyabrsk Vocational Training Center.
All of the above allows the depot team to look forward to the future with optimism.
