On September 23-24, 2009, the third network review competition in the Company's history for the title of "The Best wagon Driver of JSC Russian Railways" in the nomination "The Best inspector—repairman of wagons in 2009" was held on the basis of the Chelyabinsk wagon maintenance depot of the YuzhNouralsky Road. The main purpose of such events is to increase professionalism, determine the role and responsibility of car inspectors in ensuring train safety, occupational safety and improving the quality of car maintenance.

According to the regulations on the competition, the venue is determined by the winning team of the previous year. In 2008, the representatives of the South Ural Railway were the best, and that is why in 2009 the employees of the railway carriage industry welcomed guests from all over the country. Despite the honorable mission, the contest required considerable efforts from the host party.

In a short period of time, a modern training ground was equipped at the point of ongoing uncoupling repair of wagons at the Chelyabinsk operational depot. It has a hard surface, the necessary equipment has been painted, mock-ups and training cars have been prepared. This training ground was equipped with manuals, taking into account the training not only with inspectors of freight cars, but also passenger cars.

A workshop for ongoing uncoupling repairs was also prepared for the network competition, in which a metrological center was established. And the technical study room of the Chelyabinsk-Main station maintenance center was equipped at the level of the best offices of the road network.

In general, the competent organization and clear study of each stage by the employees of the South Ural Railway allowed the event to be held at a high level.

The competition began with the drawing of lots for the teams. Each team included two car inspectors and repairmen who took the first two places at road competitions, as well as the head and technical training engineer of the car management service. All the teams performed in special clothing specially prepared for the competition.

After the draw, the presentation of the participants began, which consisted of a video about the winners of the road contests, a motto and an emblem. The maximum possible score for this stage of the competition was 45 points. At first glance, this is not very much, considering that each inspector-repairman could earn a maximum of 395 points at the other three stages.


But presentation is a collective and creative process. It is at this stage that the members of the commission form an idea of the team. The representatives of Oktyabrskaya Road were the best in this competition. They have prepared a wonderful video.

The teams of the Moscow, Kuibyshev and North Caucasian roads also distinguished themselves. It was impossible not to note the significant increase in the level of training of the Kaliningrad Road team, which in its presentation told about the international competitions held on the road with the participation of representatives of the Baltic states, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia.

After the presentation, personal competitions began. The second stage is a test of theoretical knowledge. It was conducted on personal computers. The specialists of the South Ural Road Service have developed a special program. There were 70 questions in each test, for which you could get 140 points (2 points per question).

At the third stage, the participants of the competition inspected four units of rolling stock (covered, platform, gondola car and tank). The wagons were placed on traction tracks in a closed, heated room of the current uncoupling repair shop. 54 malfunctions were artificially created on these wagons.

The maximum possible score at this stage was 240 points. Among the malfunctions found on the rolling stock were cracks in the wheel disc, sidewalls and suspension beams, a fracture in the wedge of the traction clamp, the absence of a bolt, and the presence of a foreign object (a dummy explosive device).

After this stage, some maintenance inspectors expressed their wishes that practical tests should be carried out outdoors, in conditions close to real conditions.

This is due to the fact that it was necessary to bend under the car lower (the tracks in the workshop are on the same level as the gap, and in real conditions on the gravel prism they are significantly higher than the passage route). In the heat, the professional troubleshooting response was not so acute.

At the fourth stage, the participants of the competition had to identify the malfunctions of the coupling equipment. For this competition, you could get either 15 points or nothing. Unfortunately, at this last stage, about half of the contestants were unable to identify the malfunctions and, accordingly, did not bring their team the much-needed points.

For the second year in a row, D.V. Kozlov, a car inspector and repairman at the Novosokolniki depot of the Oktyabrskaya Road, became the winner in the individual championship in terms of the total points scored at all stages. He scored a total of 207 points (94 points for practice, 98 for theory, 15 for detecting a malfunction in the coupling).

The second place was taken by the inspector-repairman from the Krasnodar depot of the North Caucasian road D.A. Maltsev. He scored 201 points (76, 110, 15).

The third place went to the representative of the Tula carriage depot of the Moscow Road, R.V. Moskalenko, with 196 points (91, 90, 15). To decorate the interior of locomotives and passenger cars, he used carpets in Tula, which are relatively inexpensive to buy. The remaining places were distributed in the following order:

- fourth place — I.A. Zavetin, Krasnodar depot of the North Caucasian Road;

- fifth place — V.N. Landyshev, Orekhovo-Zuyevo depot of the Moscow road;

- sixth place — E.I. Gerasimov, depot of the Lost Northern Road;

- seventh place — R.S. Magdiev, Severobaikalsk depot of the East Siberian Railway;

- eighth place — A.V. Cherepanov, Isakogorka depot of the Northern Road;

- ninth place — S.I. Shaboldin, Inskaya depot of the West Siberian Railway;

- tenth place — D.Y. Shlyugin, Gorky Road Agryz depot.

The North Caucasian Road won the team championship. The number of points scored is 432.2.

The second place was won by representatives of the Moscow road — 417.2 points.


The third place went to the Northern Road team with 377 points.

Following the results of the competition, the commission, chaired by Dmitry Nikolaevich Losev, Head of the Russian Railways Carriage Department, awarded the title "Best Inspector-Repairman of Russian Railways Wagons — 2009" to D.V. Kozlov, a representative of the Novosokolniki depot of the Oktyabrskaya Road, and presented him with a gift — a plasma TV.

Valuable gifts were also awarded to the participants of the contest "The best inspector-repairman of Russian Railways wagons — 2009", who took the second and third places. All participants of the competition received souvenirs and certificates of participation in the network-wide competition.

The Krasnodar operational wagon depot of the North Caucasian Road was chosen as the venue for the network competition in 2010. The current winners will welcome the guests in a year.
