According to the latest Charter, registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation in Moscow on April 12, 2019, the organization of pensioners of the Railway Transport Administration received the name and status of the "Regional Public Organization of Veterans and Pensioners of the Railway Transport Administration" (ROOV AUT), has its own account and other attributes of an individual. Its Council of Veterans carries out its work in accordance with the annual plans, the Charter of the veterans' organization and the current regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation, as well as the recommendations of the Central Council of veterans of war and labor of the railway transport of Russia, the Moscow City Council of veterans, the Coordination Council of veterans' organizations of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, the regulatory documents of JSC Russian Railways and the Ministry of Transport of Russia.
Currently, the ROOV AUZhT unites 1360 pensioners of the Central office of the Ministry of Railways

, the Ministry of Railways of the Russian Federation and JSC Russian Railways and consists of 38 veterans' groups created at the departments, offices and central directorates of JSC Russian Railways and are its structural subdivisions. Extended Council of the ROOV AUZhT. February 1, 2023

There are many well-known veterans in the ranks of the veterans' organization of the management apparatus. These are veterans who have state awards: orders - 58 people, the title of Honored Workers (in various fields) of the USSR and Russia - 53 people, including 38 people - Honored Transport Workers, the signs of "Honored Railwayman" - 791 people.
The members of the veterans' organization are former heads of the Ministry of Railways and JSC Russian Railways: Ministers of Railways Matyukhin L.I. and Fadeev G.M., First Deputy Ministers of Railways of the Russian Federation and JSC Russian Railways.

Currently, there are six commissions in the structure of the ROOV AUZhT: the Organizational and Methodological Commission, the Social and Household Commission, the Medical Commission, the Commission for Working with War Veterans and Patriotic Education of Youth, the Commission for the Development of Silver Volunteering and Sports and Health Promotion, and the Cultural and Mass Commission, which are headed by members of the ROOV AUZhT Council of Veterans. The commissions work according to annual plans that are approved by the ROOV AUZhT Council of Veterans. The chairpersons of the commissions periodically report on their work at the Council of Veterans or the Expanded Council of Veterans. The main activities of the ROOV AUZhT Council, its commissions, and the veteran activists include:
  • 1) organizational, accounting, and methodological work (accepting new pensioners into the ROOV AUZhT, registering them, and deregistering them, preparing regulatory documents for the work of the Council of Veterans and its commissions, and introducing digital technologies);
  • 2) social protection of non-working pensioners (assisting in providing financial assistance to veterans, including those celebrating anniversaries, and in providing sanatorium and health care);
  • 3) assistance in providing medical services to veterans at the Central Clinical Hospital of Russian Railways-Meditsina (their rehabilitation, hospitalization, dental prosthetics, vaccination, medical examinations, and, if necessary, hospitalization of bedridden patients);
  • 4) work with veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 (preparing and participating in commemorative events, maintaining contact with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, and organizing various forms of assistance for them);
  • 5) participation in the moral, patriotic, and labor education of young people (organizing meetings between young people and veterans of the Great Patriotic War, as well as with respected and honored railway veterans);
  • 6) development of silver volunteering and sports and health promotion among veterans, and organizing the collection of humanitarian aid for the Special Military Operation, residents of Donbas, and railway workers affected by natural disasters;
  • 7) organization of cultural and mass activities for veterans (organizing visits to theaters, concert halls, museums, art exhibitions and galleries, and film festivals).
One of the most important areas of veteran work is working with young people: young railway workers, students of railway schools and specialized classes in territorial schools, students of railway colleges and universities, and young employees of Russian Railways. This delicate and intellectual work is effectively carried out by Ministers of Railways G.M. Fadeev and L.I. Matyukhin, as well as other leaders of the Ministry of Railways, such as A.V. Tselko, V.N. Sazonov, B.M. Lapidus, and A.I. Kamenev.
