Alstom to Supply Trains for Brazilian Suburban Network

Alstom has signed an €80m ($126.75m) contract with Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) to supply nine train sets for Line 11 Expresso Leste services in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The line carries 521,000 passengers between the east metropolitan regions of Sao Paulo and the city centre.

Part of Alstom's Metropolis range, the metros will be built in the company's Lapa plant in Brazil and delivery is expected to be complete by mid-2012.

Composed of eight cars each, the trains will feature extra-wide chairs, gangways between coaches, a lighting system, dynamic travel information, security cameras, smoke detectors and a fire extinguishing system.
