Three Firms Eye New French Rail Line

21 October 2010

French rail network operator Reseau Ferre de France has received three bids for the $4.8bn high-speed rail line from Le Mans to Rennes.

The firms include telecom conglomerate Bouygues, construction and concession company Eiffage and construction company Vinci.

The winning consortium will be finalised next year, and the line linking Bretagne with Pays de Loire valley will be complete by 2014-15, according to Reuters.

The project includes building a 214km-long section of track, which will cut the journey time between Paris and Rennes from 2h to 90min.
