The ВЈ16bn ($25.5bn) cross-London rail line in the UK will be delayed by a year, following the redesign of the route as part of the Department for Transport's (DfT) cost-cutting measures.
The rail line was due to open in 2017, but engineers have been asked to look at the plans to find significant savings.
Though the DfT said Crossrail is a priority, the process of the spending review is underway.
Crossrail will run from Maidenhead and Heathrow Airport in the west through central London to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east, according to thisislondon.co.uk.
Recently, Crossrail finalised an agreement with local authorities, Transport for London and Network Rail to make improvements to public spaces outside Crossrail stations.
