Stadler Receives Train Order in Germany

18 October 2010

Swiss rail manufacturer Stadler Pankow has received a contract worth €60m ($83.7m) for the delivery of eight double-decker multiple-unit trains from Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois.

The trains will operate in Luxembourg and Germany and the order has an option for 31 additional units, which will be in operation from 2013.

The komfortabler innovativer spurtstarker S-Bahn-Zug is based on the FLIRT vehicle concept and can adapt to the requirements of suburban train operation and mainline services.

The trains are equipped with two different voltage systems to permit operation in Luxembourg (25kV) and Germany (15kV), and each 80m-long vehicle has a capacity of 300 seats.

The interiors feature a first-class zone, space for bicycles, room for three wheelchairs and a conductor's compartment.
