LU Tube Workers Favour Industrial Action

15 October 2010

London Underground (LU) fleet maintenance staff in the UK have voted in favour of industrial action short of a strike over safety-critical cuts.

The Rail Maritime and Transport union said workers voted by 88% after LU announced another 400 more office and management jobs cut.

RMT general secretary Bob Crow said LU/TfL’s cuts plans are playing "fast and loose" with safety and will turn the tube into a "death trap".

Over the past two weeks, the union has released a series of pictures which it says highlights train equipment in a "lethal" state of disrepair.
