Gatwick Airport Station Upgrade Plans Move Ahead

15 October 2010

UK-based rail operator Network Rail has unveiled plans to invest ВЈ53m ($84m) to upgrade Gatwick Airport train station, England.

Improvements under the scheme include a platform to tackle bottlenecks in the Gatwick area for services on the Brighton mainline, refurbishment of the concourse and upgrades of the track and signalling system.

Work to finalise the design of the scheme will start immediately, with the relocation of the substation to start in 2011.

Major construction work is not scheduled to start until 2012 after the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics games have finished.
