RMT, Network Rail Settle 7% Pay Rise

14 October 2010

A dispute between the Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers union (RMT) and Network Rail has been settled after both parties agreed a pay deal.

The dispute centred on the rail operator's plan to cut 1,500 maintenance jobs and change working practices to see more work in the evenings and at weekends.

The RMT said the deal will give the maintenance workers a pay rise of around 7% between now and December 2011, and a ВЈ2,000 ($3177) lump sum before Christmas.

The deal ruled out any compulsory redundancies, according to UKPA.
