Quebec Approves Metro Contract to Consortium

12 October 2010

Bombardier-Alstom has received a $1.22bn contract for the building of new metro cars following the approval of a bill from the Quebec state government in Canada.

The contract includes building 468 metro cars for the Montreal transit system, Societe de transport de Montreal, each costing about $2.6m.

On a no-bid basis, the contract will begin immediately, avoiding a tender process that could have delayed the contract by another two years.

The first delivery will begin by 2012, according to montrealgazette.com.
