UK-based Crossrail has invited firms to place tenders for a £250m ($396.6m) construction contract for a new station at Paddington in central London.
The contract will see the station take the form of a 230m-long underground box and a 25m-wide station box, which has been designed as a diaphragm wall, and secant piles construction will be built below the taxi concourse.
The taxi concourse is situated at Eastbourne Terrace on the south of Brunel station, and the box will be built in two main phases in order to meet the heavy traffic in the Paddington area.
The successful bidder will have to build a shallow cut and cover passageway to connect Crossrail to London Underground’s circle and district lines.
There will be two tunnels connecting the Crossrail to Bakerloo line and district and circle lines of the London Underground, according to constructionenquirer.com.
The deadline for the submission of the pre-qualification questionnaires to Crossrail is 8 November this year and work will begin in October next year.
