Work on the redevelopment of Nottingham's railway station has been approved by the UK Government.
The first stage of the upgrade involves the construction of a 950-space multi-storey car park and highway improvements in Queen's Road.
The key partners involved in the ВЈ60m project ($94.8m), Network Rail, East Midlands Trains and Nottingham City Council, will appoint contractors for the first phase of the work.
The city council said the station redevelopment is a key part of the wider regeneration of the southside and eastside areas of Nottingham.
Other works include the redevelopment of brown field land within the station site, improved passenger and operator facilities and a new concourse connecting trains, trams and the car park.
Construction work of the station's main entrance will start in July 2012 and the project will be complete by late 2014.
